Askelia is a route planning app for the Helsinki public transport network. This policy explains what data the app uses and how.
The app requests access to your device’s GPS location solely to pre-fill the departure field in the route search. Your location is:
You can deny the location permission and type your departure address manually instead. The app remains fully functional without it.
When you search for a route, the departure and destination coordinates are sent to the Digitransit API (api.digitransit.fi), operated by Fintraffic. This is necessary to calculate routes. Digitransit’s own privacy policy applies to that data: digitransit.fi/en/developers/
Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap tile servers (tile.openstreetmap.org). Your IP address is visible to those servers when tiles are fetched, as with any web request. OpenStreetMap’s privacy policy applies: wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy
The app stores the following preferences locally on your device using Android’s standard storage:
These are stored only on your device and are deleted when you uninstall the app.
The app does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the same location with a new date at the top.
